A serial entrepreneur since childhood, Blake sold T-shirts at the family restaurant before investing in a jukebox as his first “turnkey” operation. To this day, nothing motivates Blake like trying to solve a challenging problem—by following his curiosity into research rabbit-holes, talking to smart, interesting people, and thinking creatively about solutions. Naturally, his Parkinson's diagnosis led to the greatest learning opportunity yet—and this book.
Refusing to be defined by Parkinson’s, Blake continues to live his best life in Knoxville, Tennessee with his wife, Jennifer, their daughter, Eleanor, and their black lab, Roger. On any given day, you can find brainstorming new ideas, boxing to stay active, and spending time with his wonderful family.
He is a proud supporter and advocate for the Michael J. Fox Foundation (and an active member of the MJFF ‘Buddy Network'.)

“When I was first diagnosed with Early Onset Parkinson's disease, I found it hard to find help because the 'Young Onset' diagnosis represents such a small minority of overall cases.
I love older people, but I wanted—needed—to see positive examples of people more “like me.” People around my own age; people who were still active, hiking, skiing, travelling, living, working, enjoying life.
At the time, the only person I “knew” with the disease was Michael J. Fox. (And of course, I didn't so much “know” him as know of him.) His book Lucky Man helped me tremendously in those dark early days, but of course most ordinary people's life circumstances are very different to those of a famous Hollywood star.
After struggling to find resources and support myself, I wrote this book to offer hope, guidance and insight into the future for other newly diagnosed people from the perspective of someone who has walked this path.
Having been fortunate enough to meet some of the world's leading experts in the field, I also wanted to share the enormous privilege of information I was blessed to gain access to, in the hope it might help others avoid some of the pain I went through.
Thank you for reading, and I wish you the best on your journey.”
